Structurist

Charles Biederman (American, 1906-2004) coined this term. Biederman said, "a Structurist work is neither painting nor sculpture, but a structural extension of the two." He studied art at schools in Cleveland and Chicago before years of painting in Paris and New York. Then he abandoned painting to produce painted "Structurist" geometric reliefs from 1937 onward.
