Schist

A metamorphic rock of dark silvery gray color, sometimes tending toward blue or green. A beautiful variety that is among the lowest strata of rock in Arizona's Grand Canyon is "Vishnu schist."(pr. shist)Note: Artists, when greatly dismayed or surprised, have been known to exclaim, "O SCHIST!"
