Royal academy of antwerp
DEFINITION
Located in Antwerp, Belgium, the Academy was founded in 1663 by David Teniers the Younger, court painter to Archduke Leopold Wilhelm, and Master of the arts and handicrafts Guild of St. Luke. The Academy curriculum offers fine arts, architecture and design, and from the 19th century forward has attracted many foreign students including George Maynard, Frances Millet and Lawrence Alma-Tadema.
