Polyvinyl chloride, abbreviated PVC, is a flexible sheet plastic which can be sewn, glued, or welded. Shapes made from PVC may be stuffed, inflated or filled with water. Inexpensive plastic pipes, and their related fittings, commonly used by plumbers, are usually made of PVC. PVC materials are not safe for long term archival storage. Also see polyester resins, polymer, polymer clay, polypropylene, polystyrene, polyvinyl acetate, polyvinyl alcohol, and trademark (?).
