Ox bow artists' colony
DEFINITION
Located in Saugatuck in western Michigan by Frederick Fursman and Walter Marshall Clute, this was the site of the summer school program of the Art Institute of Chicago. The area is scenic with the Kalamazoo River running through the middle of the town on its path to Lake Michigan: Early arriving artists were Albert Krehbiel and Frederic Fursman.
