Inker - inking

DEFINITION

A line artist along with the penciller, the inker usually works with black India ink and is part of the traditional comic book or graphic novel illustration process. First the penciller draws the initial lines, and then the inker does the finish work. Sometimes the same person is the penciller and inker. Inking has been a vital part of comic book production because pencil drawing that allows easy changes has been necessary for the initial image making. But inking facilitated the copying of the 'creator's' images, and sometimes improved the images. Frequently the penciller has gotten most of the credit as creator, but often the skill of the inker has led to the finished product that has made the work popular with the public. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inker
