Grand central academy of art

DEFINITION

Established in New York City in the fall of 2006 by Jacob Collins for the teaching of Classical Realist painting, it is a four-year program and an extension of Collins' Water Street Atelier, which is offered in the same building. However, the Academy space is larger; and the curriculum is more structured in that it includes copying works of art, and classes in anatomy, dissection, composition and art history. Enrollment is about 15 students. Teachers include Collins, Scott Waddell, Patrick Connors and Edward Minoff.
