Ergonomics

An applied science concerned with the characteristics of people that need to be considered in the design of devices and systems in order that people and things will interact effectively and safely. This is also called human engineering or human-factors engineering. Some objects occasionally cited as ergonomically well designed are: the umbrella, the bicycle, the pencil, and the Post-it note.
