Electroplate

To coat a metal ? usually iron, nickel, or copper ? with brass, chrome, copper, gold, silver, or another metal. This process is often simply called plating. The base metal is placed in a container of water in which it becomes an electrode, which is then gradually coated with particles of another metal by electrolysis.
