Chalk talks

DEFINITION

Lectures or speeches supplemented by drawings or other visual aids, Thomas Beard (1842-1905) is credited as being the originator, and was for many years a lecturer at Chautauqua in upstate New York. He used chalk and blackboards to illustrate his presentations. The term has taken on the broad meaning of that which is supplemented with visual materials.
