Archie bray foundation

DEFINITION

First residency program in the United States devoted solely to ceramic artists, it is located just outside Helena, Montana on the 26-acre site of a 100-year old brick factory. Grounds are rich with clay shards, and facilities, including a dozen buildings, fifteen kilns, and private and semi-private studios, has attracted potters worldwide. Ceramic artist Kurt Weiser has served as Director, and participants utilizing the program that combines camaraderie and independence, include Richard Notkin, Rudy Autio, Peter Voulkos and Bernard Leach.
