Alice art collection

DEFINITION

State-owned collection of Utah established in 1899, it is named for Alice Merrill Horne. She was a member of the state House of Representatives and sponsored a bill to create a state collection of artwork. The acquisitions, focused on Utah artists, continues today with donations from patrons. Artists represented in the collection include Hal Burrows, Donald Bearegard, Cyrus Dallin and J. Leo Fairbanks.
