Achenbach foundation for graphic arts

DEFINITION

Located in San Francisco at the California Legion of Honor in Lincoln Park, it was founded in 1948 by Moore and Hazel Achenbach. The facility has nearly 100,000 works representing over 500 years of graphic arts from around the world, and is a vehicle for teaching, exhibitions and publications. With a library and public study center, its strength is its wide diversity of the collection, which includes the Rockefeller Collection and Ed Ruscha Graphic Arts Archive.
